You cannot go wrong with this classic Italian dish! With creamy cheese sauce spooned over layers of fresh fettuccine that has been flavoured to perfection, this recipe will soon become a family favourite. Paired with Creekside Farm’s top-quality pizza ham and Willow Creek Olive Estate’s garlic-infused extra virgin olive oil, the flavours in this dish take on a life of their own. INGREDIENTS
- 1 large package of fettuccine pasta
- 1 diced onion
- 45 grams of creamy butter
- 2.5 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 2 packages of Creekside Farm pizza ham
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese divided into two servings
- A splash of Willow Creek garlic-infused extra virgin olive oil
- Salt, pepper, dried oregano, garlic and nutmeg
- 750ml heavy whipping cream
INSTRUCTIONS
- Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add the fettuccine pasta and cook it according to the package instructions.
- Melt the creamy butter in a large saucepan and add the diced onions. After sautéing the diced onions until they are slightly browned and crispy, drizzle the all-purpose flour over the mixture. Stir until properly blended.
- Bring the contents of the saucepan to a boil over medium heat and gradually add the heavy whipping cream while stirring.
- Leave the mixture to cook uncovered for roughly 7-10 minutes and reduce the heat to a light simmer. Remember to occasionally stir the mixture.
- Add the pizza ham, the garlic oil and ½ cup of Parmesan cheese. Season the mixture by adding the salt, pepper, nutmeg, garlic and oregano to your liking.
- Drain the fettuccine and add the cheese sauce. Drizzle the remaining Parmesan cheese over your meal and enjoy!
Tip: If you want to thicken the sauce just continue to slowly stir it for about ten minutes longer on low heat after adding the Parmesan cheese.
